Managing Knowledge
The way the knowledge (aka "Content") spreads among us is controlled by the lethal algorithms of social media behemoths. Engagement is misinterpreted as time spent, whereas actually, it's about how you were able to engage and relate to a piece of media. Hence, the arrival of platforms like Substack and Clubhouse feel like a breath of fresh air. It has enabled people to take control of what they would like to read, see, or listen to. The downside of this now has been that the amount of good knowledge that these platforms provide is becoming difficult to take it all in. On any given day, I am ending up having 50-60 emails to catch up on (I like to read each one of them). There needs to be a better way to manage this treasure trove of things you actually want to engage with and recall whenever it makes sense. How does one make sense of it all?
I recently have started to gather all the interesting things I tend to share through this newsletter by using Raindrop. 3 months down, I have managed to integrate it into my mental model for saving bookmarks instead of using the default Chrome Bookmarks Bar. The next step now is to distill the interesting parts from these bookmarks and have them organized someplace. I am still in process of figuring this one out. Let's see how it goes.
