Anyway, Moving Along.
The geeky side of me is pretty excited at this time of the year. Not because of the longish small weekends that we would get for all the festivals pouring in. But because major tech companies announce new products around this time, just before holidays in the United States. You have the thanksgiving day coming in, the Black Friday sale, then the Christmas / New Year’s. Oh, what a time to gift your loved ones. (Not that I do it, but still!)
I usually see the keynotes for these product launches every year, and I usually tend to not miss them. I love the digital glitz and the glamour that comes with them, I would sit for 10-15 minutes before the schedule looking at their standby screens, which would either show the countdown or just a friendly message and then it transitions into the introductory video. In my head, I am already sensing smells of a new phone and how would it feel toying around with it, “Ugh this feature was long overdue”, “This is what android has had for ages”, “Man when will this come to India?”, or, “When is my friend’s second cousin coming back from the USA?”.
I don’t know many people who get excited about all this. Are you one of them? Let me know. We could be friends. :)
Anyway, for those of you wondering, Google launched the Pixel 4a. Given the price point, to me it’s the Nexus of 2020s (I loved them, and proudly owned the Nexus 4 and Nexus 6), Apple will be launching the iPhone 12 (If you’re reading this on an iPhone, Check out their AR Invite). They already launched the Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch SE and iPad Air, and also the cheaper new old iPad. You probably must’ve known of Playstation 5, and the new Xbox Consoles. On the camera front, we had the GoPro Hero 9 Black launched last month, alongside the Sony Alpha 7C.
What is a pandemic?

App
Capture old photos from your new phone. The app replicates the style and filters from some of the older cameras. My personal favorite is the polaroid camera. You can even wave your phone to dry out the photograph faster, although I recently realised that waving the photograph doesn’t really help. Available on iOS | Android
App
Share less, with close friends. No behaviour tracking. No big data. And so on. Available on iOS.
Article
The evolution of animation, documented beautifully in this one very very long article. Long because the videos of the sequences are also embedded, and there are 100!

Fancy that VW transporter vintage ad? Find it here. Print it for yourself and put it up in your home office!
App
I recently got into long-forms. And I recently realised they’re take too long to read! Cue Audm. Listen to the long-form articles from some of the best publications. Just like the podcasts! Available on iOS | Android
Article
This is a very very very comprehensive read to know how to use Google Drive, to manage your groceries, pocket money, and life.
App
Hands down, a way way better and simpler app for listening to podcasts than Apple’s Podcasts app. With features like Smart Speed, and Voice Boost, and also a great user experience, this one won me over. I don’t know which rock I was living under all this time. Available on iOS.

A little something about Starbucks Green, and everything else that makes up the brand.
